Letter To The Editor
To the Editor, I'm writing on the issue of food in Fairfield. Here in Iowa we have a unique ability to feed the world with our fertile soil and strong agriculture. It's also a great opportunity to feed ourselves. In order to do that we need a diversity of crops from pork, corn, and soy to zucchini, lettuce, onions, beets, and tomatoes. We need to support small farmers and encourage young people to take up farming. Buying local food keeps money in our local economy making our region stronger. In today's day and age it doesn't have to be out of the question to actually know the person that grew your food.
