I grew up in Fairfield, so many of the ideas on this trip were not new to me. But hosting a group of enthusiastic, motivated, and awesome people at my house to learn more about sustainability inspired me to get more involved. I have always known I wanted to change the world, or do something in that direction at least, and this trip made me realize that sustainable living really is the key to creating a better future...or just a future. So with this new inspiration I will continue on my educational path studying Sociology and Global Development but with a new direction and focus--that of sustainability--because it really is applicable to every field.
Honestly, the best part of this trip was hanging out with such amazing people. The Grinnell Kids, the people we met with at MUM, the community members who took the time to talk with us...everybody has something to contribute and the collage of ideas and enthusiasm that we experienced this week was beautiful.
