Service Learning
Twelve students from Grinnell College, led by Hart Ford-Hodges, organized and participated in a trip to Fairfield during the last week of their winter break, January 12-19, 2008. The service learning trip included classes, work in MUM greenhouses and at Radiance Dairy, service projects in Fairfield, and experiential living in a vegetarian, organic, local lifestyle.
Sustainable living includes dealing with the effects of frozen biodiesel in one participant's vehicle on Saturday, January 19. The temperature was -6 degrees Fahrenheit and the fuel lines froze with 70% biodiesel.
